Just ahead of the scheduled 'Lahara Do Tiranga' march in Delhi, law enforcement authorities took Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, into preventive custody from an associate's residence. The move came amid police allegations regarding potential breach of peace, leading to procedures for presenting him before a special executive magistrate.
Legal Counsel Questions Undisclosed Location
The detention quickly stirred controversy as Ratna Singh, the legal head and advocate representing the Cockroach Janta Party, raised strong objections regarding the police handling of the situation. Raising questions on X, she stated that no information had been provided regarding Dipke's current holding location. She maintained that his whereabouts remained completely unknown and that legal representatives had been denied access to meet him following the detention.
Magistrate Appearance and Prior Bond Violation
Police authorities stated their procedural plan to bring the matter before the SEM court located at the Mandir Marg police station within the mandatory 24-hour detention window. Officials indicated that cases relating to disturbance of public peace are being drawn up. Police also highlighted that Dipke had violated the conditions of a previous bond under which he had been granted release earlier. Due to this breach of earlier commitments, authorities noted that he could potentially be remanded to jail rather than granted an immediate release.
Status of AISA Leader Neha Bora
Alongside Dipke, All India Students' Association (AISA) leader Neha Bora had also been initially slated for presentation before the magistrate court on breach of peace grounds. However, subsequent developments confirmed that police released Neha Bora, leaving Dipke as the primary focus of the preventive proceedings and court appearance.
