A massive fire broke out late at night inside a large factory located near Punjab National Bank in the Chandan Hola area of Delhi, engulfing the entire building within minutes. As soon as the alarm was raised, Delhi Fire Services teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue and firefighting operations.
Blaze Erupts Past Midnight, Engulfs a 5,000 Square Yard Factory
The incident took place around 2 am, when the entire neighbourhood was fast asleep. Senior fire officer Manish Sherawat said the control room received an emergency call about the fire at around 2:30 am. He said that once the fire crews reached the spot, the situation looked extremely serious because the factory sprawls across nearly 5,000 square yards. Given the sheer size of the premises, the flames and their intensity were far more dangerous, making it difficult for firefighters to bring the blaze under control in the initial hours.
30 Fire Engines Rushed In to Protect Nearby Homes
Sensing how serious the fire was, the fire department immediately moved to secure the residential colonies surrounding Chandan Hola so the flames would not spread further. Within a short time, around 30 fire engines arrived at the scene one after another and got to work dousing the blaze. The fire department has classified the incident as a medium category fire. In a relief, no workers were present inside the factory when the fire broke out, so there have been no reports of any casualties or injuries from the site.
8 Hour Operation Brings Fire Under Control, Cause Still Under Investigation
Thanks to the fire department's prompt response and sustained effort, the blaze spreading across such a large area was brought under control within just 8 hours. Fire brigade and police officials said their first priority was to extinguish the fire and prevent any further damage. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire will now begin. Officials said the reason behind the blaze will become clear only once the investigation is complete.
