The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced a revision in train timings across its network for the upcoming Diwali festival on November 8, 2026. The adjustment has been made keeping in mind the evening festivities and celebrations, ensuring that passengers can plan their commuting accordingly while operational adjustments are put in place for the festive day.
Earlier Morning Start On Selected Corridors
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, train services on three specific corridors will commence an hour earlier than usual on Sunday, November 8, 2026. These routes include the Pink Line, the Magenta Line, and the Grey Line. While these lines typically open for passenger operations at 7:00 AM on Sundays, the service on the day of Diwali will begin at 6:00 AM.
The early morning operations will be applicable on the Pink Line operating between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar, the Magenta Line running from Botanical Garden to Krishna Park Extension and Majlis Park to Deepali Chowk, and the Grey Line connecting Dwarka Kakrola to Dhansa Bus Stand. This adjustment aims to assist commuters who need to travel early in the morning during the festival.
Last Trains To Depart By 10 PM
In view of the Diwali celebrations in the evening, the timing for the final train service from terminal stations across all metro lines, including the Airport Express Line, has been brought forward. Instead of the usual 11:00 PM departure, the last metro trains on all lines will leave their respective terminal stations at 10:00 PM on the night of the festival.
Commuters have been strongly advised to plan their journeys keeping these revised schedules in mind to avoid any inconvenience. For further details and updates, passengers can check the DMRC website or visit their official social media handles for announcements.
Precedent From Previous Year
A similar adjustment to train timings was implemented by the transit authority during the previous year's Diwali celebrations as well. During that time, services similarly concluded at 10:00 PM and commenced an hour earlier in the morning. Information regarding the schedule changes was disseminated through official social media channels last year as well to keep commuters informed.
