Law enforcement authorities in the national capital have apprehended a key operative linked to the Hashim Baba criminal syndicate following an armed confrontation in the Dwarka area. The operative, identified as Shivam, sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange of fire and was promptly taken into custody before being moved to a hospital for medical attention. Shivam was a wanted suspect carrying serious criminal allegations against him.
Interception on the Najafgarh-Gurugram UER-2 Highway
The encounter unfolded along the Najafgarh-Gurugram UER-2 highway corridor. The Special Staff of the Dwarka police district acted on intelligence suggesting that Shivam was traveling through the sector with the intention of executing a major criminal offense. When the specialized police unit intercepted his movement and attempted to corner him, the suspect opted to open fire at the police personnel in an attempt to break the perimeter and flee the scene.
Seven Rounds Exchanged During Tactical Response
Facing direct gunfire, the police team initiated defensive counter-firing. A total of around 7 rounds were discharged from both sides during the confrontation. One of the bullets struck Shivam in the leg, immobilizing him on the spot. Officers quickly moved in, secured him, and transported him to a medical facility for treatment. A search of the encounter site led to the recovery of an illegal pistol along with live cartridges from his possession.
Wanted in Dabri Double Murder Case
Official inquiries revealed that Shivam was classified as a most wanted fugitive in connection with a high-profile case registered under Dabri police station limits, where two individuals, including a minor, were killed. Investigators are now scrutinizing his complete criminal background and mapping his interactions to dismantle the broader local network operated by the Hashim Baba gang.
Prior Firefights Involving Active Syndicates
The capital has witnessed recurring armed confrontations between law enforcement and organized criminal elements. In a previous encounter, around 26 rounds of gunfire were exchanged, resulting in injuries to two criminals, Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Jaseem, who were both shot in the leg and apprehended. During that specific shootout, bullets struck the bulletproof jackets worn by two police officers, sparing them from harm. Authorities continue their crackdown across districts to deliver a firm message that street violence and organized crime will face zero tolerance.
