Legal proceedings have intensified against networks accused of fueling separatist operations in Jammu and Kashmir through illicit cross-border financial pipelines. A designated special court in the national capital has formally ordered the framing of charges under the stringent Prevention of Money Laundering Act against separatist figure Yasin Malik alongside six co-accused. Investigating authorities maintain that substantial sums were funneled through clandestine hawala routes, originating from Pakistani state figures and intelligence apparatus to bankroll unrest in the region.
Judicial Review of Evidentiary Material
Special Judge Prashant Sharma at the Patiala House court complex passed the direction after examining an extensive trail of documentary records and forensic proof submitted by investigators. The court observed that the collected material establishes a prima facie basis to proceed with a full-fledged trial under anti-money laundering provisions. The findings underscore how unaccounted wealth from hostile overseas channels was allegedly concealed and circulated within legitimate economic streams.
Entities and Individuals Named in the Order
Alongside Yasin Malik, the judicial ruling brings several prominent figures into the formal trial process. The roster of co-accused includes businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Abdul Rashid Sheikh popularly known as Engineer Rashid, as well as separatist figures Shabir Ahmad Shah and Masarat Alam Bhat. Furthermore, the court has directed the framing of criminal charges against Naval Kishore Kapoor and a corporate entity, Trison Farms and Construction Private Limited, for their alleged involvement in the financial transactions.
