Ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, a comprehensive security grid has been activated across the national capital, placing Delhi on high alert. Security and intelligence agencies have put robust measures in place as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to unfurl the national flag and address the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. With an estimated 24,000 guests expected to attend the ceremonial event, security oversight throughout the city has been significantly intensified.
Heightened Alert Against Terror Threats and Unplanned Protests
Security forces have issued specialized alerts prioritizing potential threats from Pakistan-backed terror groups, Khalistani elements, and sudden snap protests. Based on intelligence inputs, Delhi Police has crafted a specialized security blueprint focused on Lutyens' Delhi. Under this framework, strict barricading has been implemented across key roadways in Lutyens' Delhi, allowing vehicular movement only after thorough security screening. Elevated surveillance protocols have also been expanded beyond the main venue to encompass railway stations, bus terminals, vital government installations, and other sensitive locations throughout the capital.
Deployment of 12,000 Police Personnel and Tactical Units
To safeguard the main venue at Red Fort, approximately 12,000 Delhi Police personnel are being deployed in and around the complex. Multiple central security and intelligence organizations are working in tandem to maintain seamless multi-agency monitoring. Ground security will be reinforced by Quick Response Teams (QRT), SWAT commandos, precision snipers, Bomb Disposal Squads, and specialized Dog Squads. Stringent access control procedures alongside extensive anti-sabotage checks have been established across the entire security zone.
AI-Powered Video Analytics and Continuous Vehicle Screening
Integrating advanced technology into the security architecture, over 1,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras have been installed surrounding Red Fort and neighboring areas. These surveillance feeds are integrated with AI video analytics to enable real-time monitoring, efficient crowd management, and instant detection of suspicious behavior. Delhi Police is conducting rigorous vehicle checks, round-the-clock mobile patrolling, and continuous security sweeps across the capital to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
