Reducing Friction with Candle Wax or Dry Soap
If a wooden door is only experiencing mild resistance and scraping slightly against the doorjamb, a quick surface treatment is often sufficient. Take a standard dry candle or a bar of dry laundry soap and rub it thoroughly along the edges where the sticking occurs, as well as along the interior track of the frame. This added heavy load can strain the mounting hardware, causing hinge screws to loosen over time and allowing the door to sag out of alignment.
