A passenger lost their life and approximately 20 people sustained injuries, four of them seriously, following a severe train derailment in Poland. The incident occurred when an intercity train collided with a concrete mixer truck at a level crossing in Sokolniki Suche. Around 120 passengers were on board the train at the time of the crash, which took place at approximately 11:20 (09:20 GMT) roughly 100km (60 miles) south of the capital Warsaw. Severe Carriage Damage and Investigation

However, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Piotr Malepszak stated that the truck driver, who is among the injured individuals, claimed he was blinded by the sun at the moment of the crossing.

The government faces mounting pressure to address these recurring dangerous crossings before further lives are lost.

This tragic event marks the second such accident in Poland in as many weeks, highlighting a troubling trend in transport safety. Just last week, a separate incident involved a lorry driver who bypassed closing barriers at a crossing, leading to dramatic footage of the vehicle desperately maneuvering to evade an oncoming high-speed PKP train. With consecutive incidents raising public alarm, officials are under intense scrutiny to overhaul enforcement and preventive measures across the country's railway network.
