In a joint operation, Indian security agencies and Punjab Police have successfully thwarted a major terror plot orchestrated from across the border. Kulwant Ali, a key operative of Pakistani terrorist Shahzad Bhetti, was apprehended from Faridabad in Haryana. Originally from Firozpur, the accused had been conspiring with his handlers across the border for a long time to execute terror strikes within the country. Security establishments view this arrest as a major breakthrough since the suspect was wanted in connection with multiple high-profile terror incidents.
Mastermind Behind Fazilka Grenade Attack and RDX Seizure
According to police sources, the arrested accused Kulwant Ali was the principal mastermind behind the hand grenade attack that took place on September 13, 2026, within the Jalalabad City police station jurisdiction in Punjab's Fazilka district. His terror ambitions extended far beyond Punjab, as he was also wanted by law enforcement in connection with the recovery of 8 kilograms of RDX in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Investigators reveal that he was attempting to orchestrate a major mass casualty event on Indian soil at the behest of Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI.
Uncovering the Nexus Between ISI and Shahzad Bhetti
This successful operation by the Fazilka police has exposed the sinister nexus between Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and terrorist Shahzad Bhetti. Initial investigations confirm that Kulwant Ali was in direct contact with his Pakistani handlers, working relentlessly to destabilize India's peace and security through anti-national activities. Currently, central agencies and local police teams are digging deep into his network to track down remaining associates and dismantle the entire terror apparatus from its roots.
Massive Ammunition Recovery Including AK Rifle Rounds in Rajouri
In a separate security development, the Indian Army uncovered a militant hideout in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, seizing a massive cache of weapons and ammunition. The stash ranged from rifle and pistol bullets to hand grenades neatly stocked away. This proactive army action has put security agencies on high alert regarding potential militant movements in the region. The operation was carried out during a search by the 60 Rashtriya Rifles (Naga) battalion of the Army. Recoveries from the site include 237 rounds of rifle ammunition, 16 pistol rounds, 101 rounds for a PK round belt, 4 rounds for an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, and 3 hand grenades.
