A high-value burglary targeting a village jewellery shop in Haryana has been cracked following the arrest of two individuals accused of decamping with valuable ornaments. The incident took place at Siwah village in Panipat, where a local jewellery store was broken into. Investigating officials have recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately 10 lakh rupees from the possession of the arrested duo, while an intensive search is underway to apprehend a third associate who remains on the run.
Family Visits Used as Cover to Plan Burglary
Investigators unravelling the conspiracy revealed an unexpected local connection behind the break-in. One of the arrested suspects, identified as 35-year-old Deepak from Ganaur, had family ties in Siwah village, as his sister is married there. Because of this familial link, Deepak was a frequent visitor to the village. Officials noted that he used these regular visits to closely observe the area, ultimately pinpointing the local jewellery store and chalking out the blueprint for the crime. Police have identified Deepak as the prime conspirator behind the theft.
Uncle-Nephew Duo Carried Out the Heist
To execute the plan, Deepak roped in his 20-year-old nephew, Anuj, a resident of Machhroli. Acting in tandem, the uncle and nephew carried out the theft at the jewellery outlet, wiping out substantial quantities of gold and silver articles. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspects were driven by the motive to amass quick wealth by disposing of the stolen booty at the earliest opportunity.
Interception Near Sector 24 Foils Escape Route
Following the burglary, the suspects made arrangements to transport the looted jewellery across state borders into Uttar Pradesh to sell it off quietly. However, their escape plan was cut short when a police team intercepted them near Sector 24 before they could cross over. During their search, police recovered the stolen gold and silver items worth around 10 lakh rupees directly from their custody.
Past Criminal Record and Pursuit of Absconding Accomplice
Confirming the breakthrough, DSP Headquarters Vikas Chahal stated that two individuals have been taken into custody along with the recovery of ornaments worth roughly 10 lakh rupees. According to police, both suspects have prior criminal records involving incidents of theft and snatching. Raids are currently being conducted to locate and arrest the third accomplice who participated in the crime. Police maintained that formal statutory legal proceedings will move forward under the relevant legal sections once the absconding third suspect is brought into custody.
