A determined candidate from Charkhi Dadri has secured a top spot in the state's premier administrative examination. In the Haryana Civil Services examination results announced by the Haryana Public Service Commission, Rajat Phogat, a resident of Dhani Phogat village, achieved the sixth rank across Haryana. Amassing a total score of 384 marks, his accomplishment has sparked widespread celebrations throughout his village and the surrounding district, drawing constant visits from well-wishers and relatives.
Academic Roots and Overcoming Competitive Setbacks
Rajat grew up in a household deeply invested in academics. His father, Balraj Phogat, manages a private school, while his mother serves in the education department as a Deputy DEO. His wife is Dr. Asmita. Despite the academic atmosphere at home, his path to the civil services was tested by multiple competitive hurdles. In previous years, he appeared three times for the UPSC civil services main exam, in addition to writing the mains for the forest services and the HCS. Rather than losing hope when those attempts did not culminate in final selection, he closely examined his shortcomings, revamped his preparation approach, and doubled down on his efforts.
Grandfather's Guidance and Administrative Priorities
The motivation to enter public administration began early in his formative years. Rajat credits his grandfather with planting the idea of entering public service during his childhood. With other relatives already working as officers, he had steady encouragement around him. Discussing his goals, he emphasized that his primary purpose in joining administration is ensuring government welfare programs are implemented effectively on the ground. Having been raised in a rural setting, he aims to prioritize primary schooling, enhanced healthcare access, and upgrading village infrastructure.
Parental Advice and the Value of Perseverance
Celebrating the achievement, his father, Balraj Phogat, noted that Rajat maintained strict discipline and sincere commitment to his studies throughout his schooling years. He urged parents not to discourage their children if they stumble in competitive tests, but rather to lift their spirits. Rajat's mother expressed deep emotion, stating that her son's triumph rewarded years of quiet parental devotion. She stressed that parents should nurture their children's genuine passions and back them completely.
