A massive truck carrying a heavy vessel from Belgium is currently making headlines in Uttar Pradesh as it navigates through local routes. A strikingly similar giant trailer was brought to Panipat in Haryana, taking over a year of rigorous travel to complete the journey from Gujarat. These massive logistical operations have repeatedly brought the complexities of heavy transportation and road engineering into the spotlight.
The 800-Ton Trailer That Traveled from Gujarat to Panipat
The massive trailer brought to Haryana undertook a remarkably long and challenging expedition. Equipped with about 400 tires, the vehicle carried a heavy boiler, bringing the total weight of the loaded apparatus to an astounding 800 tons, which translates to roughly 8 lakh kilograms. This gigantic convoy was witnessed on Haryana roads in October 2024. What made the operation particularly fascinating was that a dedicated team of around 250 people accompanied the convoy at all times to clear paths, secure administrative permissions, and manage bridge stability. This colossal truck covered only 15 to 20 kilometers on any given day. Throughout the arduous journey, approximately 200 tires of the trailer burst and required constant maintenance by the accompanying technical support crew.
How the Massive Haryana Convoy Was Operated
The mechanics behind moving the Haryana giant required specialized engineering and heavy machinery. On flat and even terrain, the heavy boiler was pulled by powerful train pulars. However, whenever the route presented an elevated incline or a bridge crossing, four to five additional pulars were deployed to assist. Each pular reportedly generated 500 horsepower, meaning the combined system delivered the raw pulling force of 1,500 to 2,000 horses. Traveling all the way from Gujarat, the massive vehicle took roughly 13 to 14 months to reach its designated destination in Panipat. A specialized advance team cleared the path 15 to 20 kilometers ahead of the convoy, addressing obstacles such as overhead power cables, irrigation infrastructure, and railway crossings after obtaining formal clearances from multiple government departments.
Comparing the UP Belgium Vessel with the Haryana Transport
The heavy vehicle currently drawing attention in Uttar Pradesh carries a Belgian vessel that is relatively lighter than the one seen in Haryana, weighing around 200 tons. This heavy machinery is being transported to supply a sugar mill and an ethanol plant in Balrampur. The vessel originated overseas, arrived via sea cargo at the Paradip port in Odisha, and was subsequently moved onto roadways to reach Uttar Pradesh. Transporting this load through Varanasi required dismantling parts of three foot-over bridges to allow clearance. The 308-wheeled vehicle, which has become a major public spectacle, faced severe transit challenges upon entering Varanasi. Due to difficult road conditions, the truck managed to cover only 48 kilometers in 48 hours, requiring intensive efforts from the National Highways Authority of India and local police administration to keep it moving forward.
