Modern 30-Bed Government Hospital Ready in Jehanabad's Ghosi, Set to Open Soon for Public

A new two-storey Community Health Center (CHC) built at a cost of 5.75 crore INR is nearing completion in the Ghosi block of Jehanabad district, promising modern healthcare facilities for local patients.

In a major stride toward upgrading rural healthcare services in Bihar, a state-of-the-art medical facility is virtually ready for operations in the Jehanabad district. Residents of the Ghosi block will soon have access to top-notch medical services directly within their locality. A new Community Health Center (CHC) is nearing completion, aiming to eliminate the need for local residents to travel to distant urban centers or expensive private clinics for basic treatments. Constructed directly adjacent to the old, dilapidated primary health center (PHC) building, this new hospital represents a massive leap forward for regional healthcare delivery.

A Transition from Crumbling Infrastructure to Modern Medical Facilities

For a long time, the old PHC in Ghosi had been functioning in a heavily depleted and hazardous state. Due to a severe lack of rooms and crumbling walls, healthcare services had to be scattered across fragmented structures, causing massive inconvenience to patients and staff alike. Addressing this critical challenge, the state initiated the construction of a new dedicated building. Built at an estimated budget of 5.75 crore INR, the double-storey structure is now complete. The incoming facility will offer 30 beds, a fully-equipped Operation Theater (OT), a modern X-ray room, a diagnostic lab, and several other essential clinical services under one roof.

Reducing the Burden on the Overcrowded District Sadar Hospital

Currently, the Ghosi PHC provides basic medical consultations, but due to space limitations and a lack of diagnostic equipment, patients requiring specialized care are routinely redirected to the district capital. At present, the Sadar Hospital is the only major state-run healthcare facility in Jehanabad, and it is currently operating out of a temporary fabricated building. This has subjected the district hospital to extreme pressure, often resulting in long waiting times and distress for incoming patients. The launch of the new 30-bed hospital in Ghosi will alleviate this systemic pressure, allowing local patients to receive high-quality treatment within their own block.

Building Handover Scheduled Within the Next Ten Days

The construction of this modern facility is being handled by Bhalothia Company. Sharing details on the project completion, Manoj Jain, the contractor for Bhalothia Company, stated that the physical structure of the 30-bed hospital is fully ready. Only minor pending finishing works are currently being carried out, which are scheduled to wrap up within 10 days. He confirmed that the construction team is on track to hand over the newly constructed building to the state health department in the next 10 days, meeting the 5.75 crore INR project guidelines.

Strict Warning by District Magistrate Catalyzed Completion

Administrative urgency has played a key role in accelerating the final phases of this project. On Friday, District Magistrate (DM) Chhering Y Bhutia conducted a surprise inspection of both the functional Ghosi PHC and the under-construction CHC building. During his visit, the DM closely monitored the standard of current medical services, sanitation conditions, and the actual physical progress of the construction. Noting the pending tasks, the DM issued a stern warning to the executing construction agency, ordering them to expedite the remaining work and transfer the building to the health department without any further delay, which effectively pushed the project over the finish line.
