For thousands of people living across more than 40 villages in and around Ren in Nagaur district, dealing with a serious illness has always meant a difficult and expensive journey to the district headquarters or a large city hospital. Every referral came at a cost in time and money that many families could ill afford. A large-scale expansion project now underway at the Ren Community Health Centre is set to fundamentally change this situation.
Rs 5.75 Crore Two-Storey Building on the Verge of Completion
A new hi-tech hospital building is coming up at the Ren CHC campus at a total project cost of approximately Rs 5 crore 75 lakh, and construction has now reached its final phase. The two-storey structure has been planned keeping the region's growing healthcare demands firmly in view. Two modern wards are being built inside, each with a 28-bed capacity, taking the total inpatient beds to 56. This marks a substantial increase in the facility's ability to treat and accommodate patients on-site, reducing the need for referrals.
Dialysis Unit Ends Long Journeys for Kidney Patients
Among the most significant new additions is a dedicated dialysis unit. Today, patients suffering from kidney disease in this area are compelled to travel to distant hospitals each time they need dialysis treatment, a routine that is both physically punishing and financially draining. Once this unit comes online, those patients will be able to receive regular dialysis locally, sparing them the hardship of repeated long-distance travel.
Modular Operation Theatre, Labour Room and Mother-Child Unit
The new building will also house a modern modular operation theatre built to current surgical standards. Alongside it, a state-of-the-art labour room is being developed to handle deliveries safely. A dedicated mother and child health unit is also part of the plan, designed to improve medical care for pregnant women, newborns and young children. These additions are collectively expected to make safe childbirth and proper neonatal care far more accessible for communities in this region.
Designed to Modern Healthcare Standards
Technical officers overseeing the project have confirmed that the building has been constructed with a firm focus on contemporary healthcare requirements. Good ventilation, adequate lighting and comfortable, well-organised spaces for both patients and healthcare workers are central features of the design. These elements will combine to create a hospital environment that is more orderly, hygienic and functional than the existing setup.
Staff Quarters, Parking and a Pathway Between Old and New
According to Dr. Banwarilal Gurjar, the medical officer in charge, the new building will open a new chapter for healthcare delivery in the Ren area. Residential accommodation and parking facilities for doctors and support staff are also being developed within the campus, which will make it easier for the medical team to be present and on call. An internal pathway is being constructed to link the existing building with the new one, ensuring that the hospital operates smoothly and patients can move between different sections of the campus without any difficulty.
