In a shocking breakdown of law and order in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, a minor disagreement over taxi fare erupted into a violent and blood-spilling assault. The incident took place during the early hours of Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the typically quiet Bhoranj area. What began as a mere verbal argument quickly spiraled out of control when a local resident lost his temper and launched a brutal physical attack on a working taxi driver.
Bloody Confrontation Over Fare in Bhoranj
The violent episode unfolded around 4:00 AM near the Nayara petrol pump located in Manoh, falling under the jurisdiction of the Bhoranj Police Station. According to the details available, the confrontation was strictly centered around the payment of travel fare. However, the situation deteriorated rapidly, resulting in the passenger brutally thrashing the driver and inflicting severe injuries that left the victim bleeding profusely on the scene.
Law Enforcement Attacked During Rescue Attempt
The situation escalated even further when local authorities were alerted to the ongoing violence. A team from the Bhoranj police station immediately rushed to the petrol pump to pacify the situation and rescue the injured driver. Instead of cooperating with the arriving officials, the highly aggressive youth turned his fury toward the men in uniform. He actively resisted arrest and launched an unprovoked physical assault on the police personnel who were simply trying to perform their official duties.
During the intense scuffle between the suspect and the police, one police officer sustained injuries. Despite the aggressive resistance and the chaotic environment, the police team, acting under the direct leadership of Inspector Prashant, managed to overpower the unruly local. They successfully subdued the out-of-control attacker right at the scene of the crime, preventing any further harm to the public.
Victim Hospitalized and Accused Identified
The victim who bore the brunt of this sudden rage has been officially identified as forty-eight-year-old Dinesh Kumar. He is the son of Ram Singh and hails from the Gutkar village, which falls under the Balh tehsil of the neighboring Mandi district. Given the severe nature of his bleeding and the trauma sustained in the attack, the police immediately transported Dinesh Kumar to the Medical College in Hamirpur. He is currently admitted there and is receiving necessary medical treatment for his extensive injuries.
Meanwhile, the authorities have also confirmed the identity of the violent attacker. The accused is Pradeep Rana, son of Jagdish, who happens to be a local resident of Nuhada village, under the Dimmi post office in the Bhoranj area of Hamirpur. The fact that the attacker is a local resident from the very same district has raised concerns regarding local safety and aggressive behavior over petty financial disputes.
