A man from Noida has been arrested following allegations of molesting a woman hailing from Nagaland at a five-star hotel in Kolkata. Police officials confirmed the arrest on Sunday after an official complaint was lodged regarding the incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday inside a luxury hospitality establishment situated along the EM Bypass corridor.
Incident During Football Team Welcome
The complainant, a resident of Dimapur in Nagaland, was present at the hotel when the Brazilian football team arrived in the city ahead of an upcoming match. The woman had visited the premises to extend a welcome to the visiting international squad. It was during these early morning hours that the alleged molestation transpired, prompting the victim to approach law enforcement authorities for immediate intervention.
Police Investigation and Arrest from Hotel Room
Following the ordeal, the woman approached the Pragati Maidan police station and formally submitted a grievance against the suspect. Acting on her complaint, investigators registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant legal provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an official inquiry. As a critical part of the investigative process, officers reviewed surveillance footage recorded by the hotel's CCTV cameras. The victim subsequently identified the suspect from the visual records, enabling police personnel to track down and apprehend him directly from a room within the same luxury hotel. Police confirmed that the arrested individual resides in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
