Development works are scheduled to be undertaken in the Adra division of South Eastern Railway from September 14 to September 20, 2026, which will directly impact the operation of several MEMU and express trains running through various stations in Jharkhand. The engineering, TRD, and S&T departments will jointly execute rolling block operations during this period to upgrade railway infrastructure. Consequently, the administration has decided to completely cancel certain train services, while several other trains will be short-terminated or short-originated midway to facilitate the smooth completion of maintenance works.
Completely Cancelled Train Services
Several regular daily and weekly services will remain suspended on specific dates due to the infrastructure upgrade. The Asansol–Adra–Asansol MEMU (68046/68045) will stay completely cancelled on September 14, September 17, and September 20, 2026. Similarly, the Adra–Bhaga–Adra MEMU (68077/68078) will not operate on September 15 and September 20, 2026. Furthermore, the Asansol–Purulia–Asansol MEMU (63594/63593) has been cancelled for September 14, September 17, September 19, and September 20, 2026, causing significant inconvenience to regular commuters.
Partially Terminated and Short-Originated Trains
In addition to complete cancellations, the route and destination of several other trains have been restricted midway. The Tatanagar–Asansol–Burnpur MEMU (68056/68060) on September 20, 2026, will run only up to Adra and will begin its return journey from there, remaining suspended between Adra and Asansol. The Kharagpur–Hatia–Kharagpur Express (18035/18036) will terminate its journey at Adra on September 14 and September 17, 2026, halting operations between Adra and Hatia. Additionally, the Asansol–Purulia–Asansol MEMU (63594/63593) on September 15 and September 16, 2026, will only travel up to Adra, keeping the service between Adra and Purulia suspended.
Important Advisories for Passengers
The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to travelers due to these essential operational works. To keep commuters well-informed, continuous announcements will be made via public address systems at major railway stations. Railway authorities have strongly advised all passengers to cross-check their train schedules and running status before leaving their homes to avoid any last-minute hassle at the station.
