Environmentalist Dr. Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, a native of Palamu, has dedicated nearly six decades of his life to ecological preservation, earning recognition on both national and international platforms. Serving as the national president of environmental protection and the pioneer of the Vanrakhi Movement, his tireless efforts have earned him multiple accolades, including a recent honor from the Governor of Jharkhand. For roughly 60 years, he has remained actively engaged in fighting pollution, raising awareness, and freely distributing and planting saplings.
Massive Free Distribution and Planting of Millions of Saplings
Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal noted that these honors are the direct result of nearly 60 years of unwavering hard work, perseverance, and deep devotion to nature. He has received numerous prestigious awards over the years in recognition of his achievements and conservation work. His mission of free sapling distribution and plantation under the 'Plant Trees, Save Trees' initiative has successfully reached across India and multiple foreign nations, totaling over 65 million distributed and planted saplings.
His campaign has touched 181 districts across 26 states in India, alongside international outreach in countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and Vietnam. His primary goal for the coming years is to involve more individuals in tree plantation to foster a greener ecosystem. The free sapling campaign has now completed its 58th year, while the Vanrakhi Movement initiated by him has traversed a journey of nearly five decades. This unique movement propagates the message of treating trees as family members and protecting them.
Dr. Kaushal points out that human errors, rampant deforestation, and escalating pollution have put numerous flora and fauna species at risk of extinction on our planet. His environmental journey commenced in 1966, and in 1967, he planted trees across 7.72 acres of his private land to accelerate the 'Save Forest, Grow Forest' campaign, after which his caravan expanded continuously.
Throughout this journey, he has collaborated with several renowned environmentalists across the country, including Sunderlal Bahuguna. For his nearly six decades of contribution, Dr. Kaushal has secured 65 prestigious awards, driven by the resolute determination to leave behind a greener earth for future generations.
