A chilling murder mystery has come to light in Palamu, Jharkhand, where an initial missing person report filed by a father ultimately led to the discovery of his son's lifeless body in a forest. After a thorough investigation, law enforcement agencies uncovered a sinister plot orchestrated from within the victim's own household. The mastermind behind the assassination turned out to be none other than the deceased man's wife, who paid contract killers to eliminate her husband. Following the breakthrough, authorities have arrested a total of seven individuals, including the victim's wife.
Missing Person Report And Forest Recovery
The sequence of events began on September 19, when a local resident named Birju Oraon approached the Lesliganj police station to report that his son had gone missing. Police immediately initiated an inquiry to trace the whereabouts of the young man. A few days later, on September 23, an unidentified dead body was discovered in the Ekta jungle. When Birju went to inspect the remains, he positively identified the victim as his missing son, Pankaj Oraon. While the father found his son, it was in the tragic form of a corpse that could no longer speak of the horrors inflicted upon him.
Domestic Discord And The Compensation Motive
To unravel the mystery, investigators interrogated the dead man's wife, Anima Kumari. During questioning, she claimed that her husband frequently spoke to multiple women on the phone, which triggered constant arguments between them. She alleged that Pankaj subjected her to physical abuse and threatened her with death. However, deeper police scrutiny revealed a crucial financial angle to the crime. Authorities discovered that the victim and his father had recently received a substantial financial payout as land compensation for a national highway project. The accused wife used ten lakh rupees from this very compensation fund to hire contract killers for her husband's murder.
Execution Of The Lethal Plot
According to police revelations, the ten lakh rupee supari was handed over to a woman named Tetri Devi, with another female accomplice also joining the conspiracy. Together, the women plotted the elimination of Pankaj. They initiated contact by talking to him over mobile phones to gain his confidence. Eventually, one of the women called him to meet up, and after establishing trust, summoned him for a second meeting. When Pankaj arrived, the two women lured him toward the Ekta jungle. Meanwhile, their male accomplices reached the spot via a different route using a four-wheeler. In the secluded area, the group strangled Pankaj to death.
