An incident from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh has stunned the entire area. Two families, connected through the same godown where their menfolk worked, became so entangled that two homes broke apart and two spouses ended up at the police office, their children in tow. Jagdish Patel, husband of Rajni Patel who lives in Khurai Road Galla Mandi under Motinagar police station, and Ramvati Ahirwar, wife of Sanjay Ahirwar from village Gora Karrapur under Beheria police station, left their homes together at around 5 pm on the evening of June 17. The most painful part is that both walked out leaving their young children behind.
The story of how the two grew close also traces back to that same godown where Jagdish Patel worked. Ramvati's husband Sanjay Ahirwar was employed at the very same place. Jagdish would often turn up at Sanjay's house on the pretext of some work or another. It was during this coming and going that the distance between Jagdish and Ramvati narrowed and the relationship turned into love. Eventually, the two fled their homes.
Both families turn to the police
After being left behind, Rajni Patel and Sanjay Ahirwar both went to the office of the Sagar Superintendent of Police, submitted a written complaint and sought justice. Both are clear that they are no longer willing to keep their spouses, and they want the matter investigated with strict legal action. Police have registered the complaint and begun an inquiry. Officials say that once the investigation is complete, further action will be taken on the basis of the facts.
What Sanjay Ahirwar said
Sanjay Ahirwar said his wife Ramvati suddenly went missing. She took a 9-year-old daughter and a younger child with her, while leaving an elder son at home. The incident took place on the 17th. According to Sanjay, he had got wind of the relationship about a year earlier, which is why he had left Ramvati at her maternal home. Even so, Jagdish Patel kept visiting and even rented a room to stay nearby. Sanjay said he himself worked at the warehouse, and Jagdish's visits to his house gradually increased. A year later Ramvati returned from her maternal home saying she would live properly, but the moment Sanjay left for work, she packed a bag and walked out. Sanjay demands that the two be punished. He asks who will now raise his children and who will marry them later. He says a stain has been left on society and that both should be jailed.
Rajni Patel's anguish
On the other side, Rajni Patel said her husband Jagdish Patel has run away with Ramvati. She alleges that before leaving, her husband beat her and the children, and walked out with twenty-five to thirty thousand rupees. According to Rajni, Jagdish worked at a cement godown where he was the foreman, while Ramvati's husband Sanjay Ahirwar also worked at the same place. On the pretext of work, Jagdish would head to Sanjay's house. Rajni says she needs money to feed her children. She was married 16 years ago and has three children. She no longer wants to keep her husband. Rajni also said she had pleaded with Ramvati many times to think about her children.
