Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav marked the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on Monday by garlanding his statue at Lalghati in Bhopal, and used the occasion to announce that the state will roll out the Uniform Civil Code, or UCC, this very month. He said it is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that it is joining the select group of states that follow one uniform set of civil laws.
Fulfilling Mukherjee's vision
The Chief Minister said Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee will always remain etched in public memory, remembered for his dedication, sacrifice, wisdom and courage. Recalling the shortcomings Mukherjee had pointed out in the constitution being framed at the time of independence, Yadav said Mukherjee had argued that India should function under one flag, one leader and one law, meaning a single flag, a single head and a uniform legal system for the whole country. According to the Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh is now set to fulfil that very vision this month by bringing in the UCC law.
A missile project taking shape in Shivpuri
Yadav also said that Sunday saw a golden chapter being written in the defence sector. He revealed that a missile is being developed in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, capable of striking targets as far as 1000 kilometres inside enemy territory. The Chief Minister said the Gwalior Chambal region stands to gain significantly from this project, as it is expected to boost defence linked industry and employment in the area.
An industrial park for Satgarhi in Kolar
Dr Mohan Yadav further announced that Satgarhi, located in Bhopal's Kolar area, is also set to receive an industrial park on the same Monday. He said that to make Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's birth anniversary meaningful, he himself would inaugurate this large industrial park at Satgarhi. According to the Chief Minister, the park will make it far easier for people to live, eat, rest and find employment in the area. He expressed confidence that Bhopal is on its way to becoming a prosperous economic capital in changing times, adding that there could be no better day than Mukherjee's birth anniversary to lay this foundation of development.
India's growing global standing under PM Modi
In his address, CM Mohan Yadav also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is committed to doing everything necessary for the nation. He said India is carving out a distinct identity for itself in the world under PM Modi's leadership, and that the state government is moving towards industrialisation inspired by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's lofty ideals. He claimed his government is continuously working to bring welfare to every section of society.
