Forest Department Action in Gariaband
In a significant operation, the Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve team arrested 6 teak smugglers and poachers in Gariaband. The accused, who are residents of Sahibinkachhar, surrendered before the forest department authorities. During the search, officials recovered teak, sal, and bija wood, along with bows, arrows, hunting nets, saw machines, and other poaching equipment. Remains of porcupines and peacock feathers were also seized. Legal action against the accused is currently underway under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Chhattisgarh Wood Sawing Regulation Act.
High Court Strict on Criminal Cases Against Leaders
The hearing of criminal cases against more than 15 MPs and MLAs is being expedited in a special MP-MLA court under the supervision of the High Court. The 2026 status report includes several prominent names. Cases involving Bhupesh Baghel, Kawasi Lakhma, Devendra Yadav, Dilip Lahariya, Raghavendra Singh, and Abhishek Singh have been scheduled for upcoming hearings. Raigarh Municipal Corporation's Anti-Encroachment Drive
The Raigarh Municipal Corporation conducted a campaign against encroachment in Sanjay Market, taking action against 20 shopkeepers. Fines totaling ₹22,500 were collected from those who obstructed public roads by placing their merchandise outside shops. The corporation has issued a warning that such drives will continue systematically to ensure the city remains encroachment-free.
Gram Sabha Ban on Pastors in Keralapal Village
A special Gram Sabha in Keralapal village, located in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, has passed a resolution banning the entry of pastors and preachers into the village. Following the decision, notice boards regarding this restriction have been installed at the village borders. Villagers took this step in opposition to alleged religious conversion activities. Additionally, a decision was made to launch a campaign to bring back villagers who have already converted to their original faith. Similar decisions regarding conversion issues have emerged in various parts of the Bastar division recently.
Restriction at Gandhari Puliya Underbridge in Raigarh
Following reports of frequent accidents, the Raigarh Municipal Corporation has taken decisive action at the Gandhari Puliya underbridge. The path has been partially blocked by installing angles, prohibiting regular transit. This underbridge connects the Raigarh city and Jute Mill area but was old and narrow, leading to waterlogging during monsoon, which caused several bike accidents. While site inspections for the construction of a new underbridge have been conducted by municipal and railway officials, the project is still in the process phase. The current blockade has forced commuters to use alternative, longer routes.
Ujjain City Kazi Clarifies Muharram Procession Controversy
The City Kazi of Ujjain has addressed allegations regarding an explosion in a vehicle during the Muharram procession. Dismissing the viral video as edited, he stated that the footage misrepresented common firecrackers as fireballs. According to the City Kazi, the vehicle only contained standard firecrackers, and if actual explosives were present, it would have posed a severe danger to the occupants. He claimed to possess the original video and alleged that some youths manipulated the footage for social media. He described the event as part of traditional martial arts performances during Muharram and emphasized that there was no intent to hurt religious sentiments. He also criticized the media for over-hyping the matter and appealed for the controversy to be laid to rest.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's Two-Day Visit to Betul
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has begun a two-day tour of Betul. This evening, he will reach the hill station of Kukru, where he will observe the sunset point at 6:30 PM, followed by a direct dialogue with villagers during a night chaupal at the Kukru Gram Panchayat. He will also participate in cultural events held at night. On the morning of June 28, the Chief Minister will engage in meditation at the sunrise and Butch point at 6:30 AM. Subsequently, he will review the activities of self-help group women, participate in a plantation program at 7:30 AM, and inspect coffee plantations.
