Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are alive with significant developments today. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate two major solar energy projects in Neemuch and Shajapur, while Raipur's Nakti village is in turmoil over an administration-ordered bulldozer demolition targeting over 70 homes. A land dispute in Ujjain has taken a sharp political turn after a Congress leader allegedly pulled out a pistol to threaten farmers. In the pilgrim town of Omkareshwar in Khandwa, an overnight debris collapse wrecked four shops. Four of the state's agricultural products have secured GI tags. And Bilaspur is set to become the second Chhattisgarh city to operate under a Police Commissionerate framework.
Neemuch Gets Major Solar and Industrial Projects Worth Rs 1,553 Crore
Today marks a landmark day for Neemuch as Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav commissions a 500-MW solar park in the district. A 450-MW solar park in Shajapur will also be formally inaugurated under the same programme. Yadav will additionally perform the bhoomi-pujan and inauguration of industrial units and development works worth Rs 1,553.98 crore in Neemuch. Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi and state Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla will attend the ceremony. Launching nearly 950 MW of new solar capacity in a single event while simultaneously commissioning close to Rs 1,554 crore worth of industrial projects represents a considerable leap for the region's energy and economic landscape.
Four MP Agricultural Products Earn GI Tags, Mahakaushal Farmers to Gain
Madhya Pradesh has added another notable achievement to its record. Four of the state's agricultural produce have been granted Geographical Indication tags: Sitahi Kutki, Nagdaman Kutki, Baigani Arhar, and Chatri Dhan. All four crops originate from the tribal-majority areas of the state, particularly within the Mahakaushal belt. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state government is committed to improving the economic prosperity of farmers through global recognition for their produce. With the GI tag in place, these products gain a protected identity that can push up demand in national and international markets and directly increase farmers' earnings. Farmers of the Mahakaushal region stand to benefit the most.
Over 70 Homes Face Demolition in Raipur's Nakti Village
A charged confrontation between residents and the administration has gripped Nakti village in Raipur since early morning. The administration team launched a bulldozer demolition drive from dawn, with over 70 homes in its path. Villagers are in open resistance, weeping and pleading with officials to stop the operation. They allege that the team arrived suddenly and merely stuck a notice before beginning demolition without giving residents any proper advance intimation about displacement. The notice was posted 48 hours before the team moved in, and the operation has continued without pause since. Both sides remain in a standoff with no resolution in sight.
Ujjain Land Dispute Turns Political: Congress Leader Faces Pistol Threat Allegation
A land dispute in Ujjain district has escalated into a serious political controversy. Pratap Singh Gur, a former member of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee and district panchayat member representative, stands accused of drawing a pistol and threatening to kill farmers who objected to his actions. The incident took place at village Delchibujurg in the Mahidpur Road police station area, approximately 67 kilometres from Ujjain.
According to complainant Govind Sen, on the evening of June 18 he and his brother were working in their field when Gur arrived with two associates and began digging a trench near the field boundary using a JCB machine. When the brothers objected, an argument broke out. Sen says other family members also rushed over to calm things down, but at that point Gur allegedly drew a pistol from his waist and threatened to kill them. Video footage of the incident has surfaced showing Gur allegedly brandishing the weapon and pushing away the mobile phone of a person recording the scene. Once the video spread on social media, police registered a case based on the complaint and launched an investigation.
Late-Night Debris Collapse at Omkareshwar Destroys Four Shops
The pilgrim town of Omkareshwar in Khandwa district was rocked by a sudden debris collapse late at night. The rubble came down on the ascent below Rathor Dharamshala on the Jhoola Pul route, badly damaging four shops in its path. Goods stored inside the shops were also buried under the debris, with shop owners estimating their losses at thousands of rupees. The one saving grace was that all four shops had closed for the night and the owners had left, so no injuries were reported. The incident triggered widespread panic in the area. Affected shop owners are pressing the administration to survey the damage and provide fair compensation. Local residents have also demanded a thorough probe and called for stronger safety measures at the Jhoola Pul route and other vulnerable locations to prevent a repeat of such incidents.
Balodabazar Fake Rape Case Conspiracy Unravelled
Police in Balodabazar, Chhattisgarh, have busted an alleged conspiracy to file a false rape case for political motives. The investigation established that the complaint was orchestrated out of electoral rivalry, with the aim of framing Janpad member Anjeev Jaiswal and a sarpanch in a fabricated case. A young woman registered the complaint at the instruction of history-sheeter Bhagwat Thawait. During police questioning she reportedly revealed the entire conspiracy. The probe also unearthed an alleged plan to extort Rs 3 lakh from the accused. Five people, including the young woman who filed the complaint, have been arrested and produced before the court.
Noisy Late-Night Protest Outside Khamhardih Police Station in Raipur
The area outside the Khamhardih police station in Raipur was the scene of a late-night commotion. A family arrived demanding an FIR after their relative, a young man, was allegedly assaulted. They allege that the brother of a Crime Branch constable beat the youth with brutal force, and the injured man was admitted to hospital. When their demand for an FIR went unmet, family members including women staged a sit-in protest and raised loud slogans outside the station. Senior police officers reached the spot to manage the situation.
Bilaspur to Get Police Commissionerate System After Raipur
Chhattisgarh is set to extend the Police Commissionerate system to Bilaspur, making it the second city in the state to operate under this framework after Raipur. Under the Commissionerate model, law-and-order powers and responsibilities are vested directly in the Police Commissioner rather than the district administration, enabling faster decisions and clearer accountability. The move is being described as a significant administrative upgrade aimed at making policing more effective in Bilaspur.
