The investigation into the Ketan Agarwal murder case has reached a decisive stage. With only a few hours left before the police custody of accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary expires, Pune police are racing to gather every piece of evidence that could crack the case wide open. On Monday, a police team took Siya Goyal to her home, where a search and panchnama process continued for about ninety minutes.
What the home search turned up
The police team accompanied Siya to her residence and carried out a detailed examination of the entire house. Officers searched several rooms and seized certain important items during the operation. Police have not yet disclosed exactly what was recovered, but those close to the investigation believe the seized material could prove significant to the case.
What Siya's father said
Speaking briefly to the media after the police action concluded, Siya's father said he did not interfere in the police operation in any way. He said the police had come to do their job and stayed at the house for roughly seventy five minutes to ninety minutes. According to him, he did not meet anyone during that time because he is unwell and his doctor has advised him to rest. He also said the police did not question him at all, that he remained in his room throughout, and that officers left once their work was done. Siya's father further clarified that he neither spoke to his daughter nor met her during the course of the police action.
The biggest question police still face
Police say a crime scene recreation has already been carried out with both accused at Lohagad fort, and several important details have emerged from that exercise. Even so, some questions remain unanswered. The biggest one is whose role was the most significant in planning the murder. Did Siya Goyal design the entire plan, was it Chetan Chaudhary's idea, or did the two plan every step together. Police are still working to answer exactly that.
Why a lie detector test has been sought
Sources close to the investigation say the statements given by the two accused do not match on several key points. Some digital and circumstantial evidence has also failed to complete the picture so far. That is the reason Pune police have sought court permission to conduct lie detector tests on both accused. Investigators believe the scientific test could help answer questions about who conspired the murder, what role each accused played at the crime scene, and how far they went to destroy evidence after the killing.
