Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian shared crucial insights regarding the national leadership during an interview with Iran state broadcaster IRIB. The president candidly stated that establishing direct communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei remains extremely difficult at present. However, Pezeshkian emphasized that despite these operational hurdles, Mojtaba Khamenei's presence as the supreme leader serves as a vital pillar of strength for the nation during this highly tense period. He noted that this guidance plays a critical role in enabling Iran to formulate effective responses to ongoing military attacks against the country.
Secret Meeting Inside a Dark Tinted Vehicle in Tehran
Details regarding the recent interaction between President Masoud Pezeshkian and Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei reflect high-level security measures. The meeting was arranged at an undisclosed location in the capital city of Tehran. Pezeshkian was escorted to a vehicle featuring heavily tinted and dark windows, where he was seated in the back next to the individual identified as Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The encounter lasted only a few minutes, yet President Pezeshkian characterized the discussion as deeply meaningful and productive. He highlighted that Khamenei demonstrated great warmth and articulated very solid, logical arguments concerning key national issues.
Addressing Internal Disputes and Council Decision Approval
During the broadcast, President Pezeshkian addressed internal political friction, noting that certain factions have been attempting to project a negative image of Mojtaba Khamenei in an effort to sow division within the nation. To counter these narratives, Pezeshkian cited a recent policy evaluation process where a council reviewed a specific proposal. Out of 13 council votes, 12 were cast in favor of the measure, and Mojtaba Khamenei fully accepted the majority outcome. Pezeshkian affirmed that the Supreme Leader's decision to respect expert recommendations was entirely correct. However, he expressed concern that this acceptance of specialist council guidance was subsequently exploited by detractors to spark controversy and push inappropriate assertions.
Assumption of Supreme Power Following Attack and Public Absence
Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the leadership of Iran after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed during a joint US-Israel attack on February 28, an event that escalated into broader military conflict across West Asia. Mojtaba Khamenei sustained injuries during that attack and has not made any public appearances since. While he continues to issue official written communications, his persistent absence from public gatherings has raised widespread questions regarding his physical health and his operational relationship with top government officials. Significantly, he was unable to attend even the funeral ceremonies for his father last month, further fueling speculation about his condition.
