Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal was targeted in a violent attack near the Mata Sahib Gurdwara complex in Nanded Maharashtra. The incident occurred on 13 August 2026 when assailants armed with sharp weapons ambushed him, causing injuries to his hands. Following the assault, he was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical care.

The attack took place while Sukhbir Singh Badal was visiting the prominent shrine in Nanded. According to visuals and accounts from the spot, Nihangs armed with sharp weapons like Kirpans carried out the strike. The sudden confrontation sparked chaos in the area as bystanders and security personnel rushed to intervene.
Security Officer Injured During Escalation
A police officer assigned to Sukhbir Singh Badal's security detail was also wounded while attempting to shield him during the melee. Security personnel managed to secure the area promptly and escorted the leader to safety before transferring him to the hospital, where medical professionals are assessing his condition.

The violent incident comes shortly after intense political rhetoric surrounding the Akali Dal chief.
