A specialized medical relief camp established in Saharanpur has deployed 21 automated foot massage machines to help Kanwariyas overcome extreme physical exhaustion as they carry sacred Ganga water from Haridwar toward destinations in Haryana, Punjab, and nearby regions. Walking hundreds of kilometers on foot often causes severe foot swelling, nerve stiffness, and muscle fatigue among the pilgrims. While food distribution stalls line the entire pilgrimage route, this dedicated medical camp has introduced mechanical therapy to provide swift physical recovery for the devotees.
21 Advanced Machines Replace Traditional Hand Massages
In most pilgrim service camps across the route, volunteers traditionally offer manual foot massages to weary travelers. However, the Chikitsa Seva Samiti organized by the Saharanpur Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal chose to integrate modern technology into their volunteer operations. By installing a total of 21 specialized massage machines, the camp delivers deep muscle relief targeting key pain points from the feet up to the thighs.
Three Specialized Machine Types Target Specific Pain Points
According to camp manager Deepak Khera, the facility features three distinct categories of massage devices designed to handle different types of physical distress. One setup utilizes integrated magnets that stimulate foot soles to release nerve tension and open pressure points. A second type provides comprehensive vibration and pressure massage extending continuously from the thighs down to the heels. To complement the mechanical massage therapy, the organizers have also stocked complete medical supplies and essential medicines for the pilgrims.
Scaling Up from 6 Machines Last Year to 21 Today
Sharing the development of the initiative, Deepak Khera noted that the team launched the service last year with just 6 machines. Driven by community support and volunteer contributions, the committee successfully achieved its target of placing 21 operational machines in service this year. Devotees noted that manual hand rubbing often provides temporary relief, whereas automated machine massages penetrate deep into stiffened muscles to relieve soreness far more effectively.
Pilgrim Kailash Shares Impact on Long-Distance Trek
Kailash, a Kanwariya traveling all the way from Haridwar to Ambala, expressed great satisfaction with the facility. He stated, "The machines significantly reduce our physical fatigue, providing far greater comfort and relief than traditional hand massages." Hundreds of pilgrims passing through Saharanpur daily spend time at the camp to recharge before resuming their journeys.
