A dedicated and innovative science educator from Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh has not only transformed the academic futures of countless young girl students through her unique teaching methods, but is now set to bring immense pride to her entire region. Dr. Renu Tripathi, serving as a science teacher at the Government Girls Inter College located in Vijay Nagar, has been officially chosen for the prestigious National Teachers Award 2026. On the auspicious occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, the President will honor her with this esteemed accolade in New Delhi. This year, a total of 48 teachers from across the entire country have been selected for this award, out of which only three names are from Uttar Pradesh, and Dr. Renu Tripathi of Ghaziabad is one of them.
Over Two Decades of Dedication and Advanced Academic Pursuits
Originally hailing from Pilkhuwa, Dr. Renu Tripathi has been diligently working in the education sector for the past 26 years. Since 2006, she has been stationed as a science teacher at the Government Girls Inter College in Vijay Nagar. Hailing from a modest middle-class family, Renu pursued rigorous higher education, earning degrees including an MSc, MEd, PhD, and an MA in Economics, which laid a robust foundation for her academic career.
A Track Record of Prestigious Honors
This is not the first time her exceptional educational contributions have been recognized. Over the years, she has received numerous notable accolades. These include the Kautilya Award, Bharatendu Harishchandra Award, and Mahasagar Award conferred by the central government, along with the Ideal Teacher Award and Teaching-Learning Award from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, as well as the Ambedkar Award from the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Furthermore, in the year 2022, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored her with the State Teacher Award.
Emphasizing Practical Learning Over Rote Memorization
When Dr. Renu Tripathi received the news of her selection for the National Teachers Award, her joy knew no bounds. She expressed that it felt as though God had fulfilled her innermost desire. She firmly believes that instead of restricting children solely to textbooks, they should be taught through hands-on practical methods. In alignment with the new education policy, she has developed micro-modules and teaching-learning materials. She utilizes smart boards, PowerPoint presentations, and the school's botanical garden to make science accessible and engaging for her students.
Inspiring Self-Reliance Alongside Academics
Many students mentored by Renu are currently making their mark across diverse professional fields. She shared that a student from an impoverished family background is now working in digital engineering in Pune. Additionally, four daughters from another local family who previously engaged in sewing work to make ends meet are now successfully employed in government jobs. Renu considers these outcomes to be her greatest achievements. Education runs deep in her family as well, with her husband and one son involved in education, and another son working in the corporate sector. She consistently encourages her schoolgirls to become self-reliant alongside their studies. Although her retirement is scheduled for July 2027, she intends to continue her educational mission and dreams of launching an NGO to bring underprivileged children into the fold of education.
Family Support and Future Vision
Expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering support of her in-laws' family, Renu noted that receiving the award from the President will be a monumental moment, and she looks forward to seeking guidance on how she can contribute even further to the nation's educational landscape. Meanwhile, the school principal praised Dr. Renu Tripathi as the pride of the institution, stating that receiving such an honor directly from the President is a matter of profound honor for the entire school community. Renu has also extended her sincere thanks to the Government of India for the national recognition.
