A sudden landslide along the railway alignment between Maliguda and Chhatriput stations in the Rayagada rail division has brought extensive disruption to train operations. In response to the track obstruction, East Coast Railway announced a series of operational adjustments stretching from October 13 to October 22. Multiple passenger and express services have been completely withdrawn, while several others will now terminate short of their destinations or commence their journeys from intermediate hubs. The disruption has severely impacted regional transit across contiguous corridors in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
Extensive Network Impact Across Major Centers
According to railway notifications, the altered schedules directly affect connectivity among key commercial, industrial, and administrative hubs, including Jagdalpur, Kirandul, Visakhapatnam, Rourkela, Howrah, and Bhubaneswar. Daily commuters and long-distance passengers navigating these inter-state routes face revised travel windows as engineering teams assess the safety parameters of the corridor.
Complete Cancellations Ordered Until Late October
Rail authorities have temporarily suspended operations on several critical links to ensure passenger safety amid restoration efforts. Train number 18516 Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Express, train number 18515 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Express, and train number 18107 Rourkela-Jagdalpur Express will remain fully out of service through October 20. In addition, train number 18108 Jagdalpur-Rourkela Express will not operate between October 14 and October 21.
Short Termination Protocol at Koraput
To avoid the affected section, inbound services destined for Jagdalpur and Kirandul are being halted early at Koraput railway station. Passengers holding reservations onward from Koraput will be required to arrange alternative transportation methods to complete their travel.
- Train number 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Express will culminate its trip at Koraput through October 20.
- Train number 18447 Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express will similarly finish its run at Koraput until October 20.
- Train number 58501 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Passenger will operate only up to Koraput through October 20 without advancing to its terminal.
Outbound Services Originating from Koraput
Outbound train departures typically originating in Jagdalpur or Kirandul have experienced structural revisions. Instead of departing their regular origin points, these trains will commence their journeys from Koraput platforms.
- Train number 18006 Jagdalpur-Howrah Express will originate from Koraput rather than Jagdalpur between October 15 and October 22.
- Train number 18448 Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express will depart from Koraput instead of Jagdalpur from October 14 to October 21.
- Train number 58502 Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passenger will begin its run from Koraput instead of Kirandul through October 20.
Advisory Issued for Prospective Travelers
Railway administrators have urged passengers intending to traverse these sectors to verify current operational statuses prior to setting out. Travelers must note that boardings and disembarkations previously scheduled for Jagdalpur and Kirandul will take place exclusively at Koraput during the designated restriction window. Rail authorities emphasized the importance of real-time schedule verification to mitigate transit inconveniences during ongoing track remediation works.
