Security forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully foiled two distinct terrorist plots following swift operations in the Rajouri and Baramulla districts. Simultaneously, a joint security network in northern Kashmir apprehended a suspect carrying two live hand grenades during a routine checking exercise.
Pakistani Drones Repelled in Naushera Sector
The border breach attempt transpired during the overnight hours of August 27 and 28 in the Naushera area of Rajouri district. Three unmanned aerial vehicles originating from Pakistan intruded into Indian airspace near Rumlidhara. Vigilant Indian Army personnel deployed along the Line of Control quickly spotted the aerial movement and immediately activated counter-drone defense mechanisms.
The prompt electronic intervention overwhelmed the intruding platforms, compelling all three drones to retreat across the border into Pakistani territory. Precautionary search operations were subsequently launched across the surrounding terrain by the military and the Border Security Force to confirm that no contraband, weapons, or munitions were dropped during the brief intrusion.
Joint Operation Seizes Grenades in Baramulla
In a separate successful operation in North Kashmir, security personnel intercepted a suspect carrying explosive weaponry in the Baramulla district. A joint checkpoint was established at Wusan Bangil within the jurisdiction of the Kunzer Police Station. The operation involved personnel from the local police, Special Operations Group, CRPF 176 Battalion, and 2 Rashtriya Rifles.
During the inspection of vehicles and pedestrians, an individual attempted to flee upon noticing the security cordon. Personnel reacted swiftly to detain the suspect, identified as Shakir Nabi Lone, a resident of Hardu Abura in Kunzer. A physical search yielded two live hand grenades. An First Information Report has been registered at the Kunzer Police Station, and further investigation is under way to trace his backward and forward linkages.
Disrupting Terror Networks and Aerial Smuggling
Terrorist outfits operating across the border have increasingly relied on drone technology to drop arms, ammunition, funds, and narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir. These dropped payloads are subsequently collected by local overground workers who pass them on to active terror cells in the region.
