A devastating accident on the Samruddhi Mahamarg in Maharashtra’s Amravati district on Sunday morning has left the entire region in mourning. A high-speed collision between a car and a truck resulted in the instantaneous death of five individuals from the same family. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, claiming the lives of two men, two women, and a young child on the spot. This chilling tragedy has reignited serious concerns regarding the risks posed by excessive speed and safety standards on the Samruddhi Mahamarg corridor.
Details of the Incident and Police Response
According to authorities, the collision occurred on the Samruddhi Mahamarg passing through the Dhamangaon Railway tehsil of Amravati. The car was traveling from Nagpur towards Mumbai when it collided with a truck moving in front of it. Preliminary information suggests that all the deceased belonged to a single family hailing from the Chandrapur district. Upon receiving reports of the crash, police and emergency medical service teams reached the location immediately. The police managed the scene and arranged for the bodies to be transported to a hospital. An official case has been registered, and investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident are currently underway.
Vehicle Accident Involving MLA Sudhir Gadgil in Sangli
Prior to this, on Saturday, a car carrying Sudhir Gadgil, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from the Sangli constituency, was involved in a separate accident. While the MLA was traveling from Myshal to Sangli, a two-wheeler rider suddenly appeared in front of his vehicle on the Arjunwad service road, leading to a collision. Fortunately, the car's airbags deployed in time, preventing a major tragedy and ensuring the MLA's safety, though he sustained a minor injury to his finger. The person riding the two-wheeler was also injured in the incident and was subsequently admitted to a hospital for medical treatment.
