Delhi Police have released YouTuber Dhruv Rathee from custody after his preventive detention. Authorities have issued a firm warning stating that fresh action will be initiated if he attempts to proceed towards Jantar Mantar to take part in demonstrations. Security arrangements across the national capital and border corridors have been stepped up following calls by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) to hold protests on 11 October 2026.
Detention from Gurugram Residence
The action took place on 10 October when police detained Rathee from his residence in Gurugram prior to a planned demonstration against Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar. During the crackdown, Delhi Police also took approximately 200 protesters into custody, including Dipke, Sourav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka. Thousands of people attempting to participate in the CJP demonstration were similarly intercepted by law enforcement across multiple locations.
Heightened Border Surveillance and Deployment
Following the call for demonstrations, a high alert was enforced along the Delhi-Haryana border, with security personnel deploying drones to maintain continuous aerial surveillance. With CJP maintaining its protest plans for 11 October 2026, extensive preventive security measures remain operational. Law enforcement officials have stated that unauthorized gatherings in restricted areas will not be permitted and any breach of regulatory orders will meet with strict measures.
Appeal from Germany
During his detention, Rathee's wife Julie issued an appeal from Germany seeking his release. Following his release, authorities continue to keep close watch over developments across the region to ensure that restrictions in sensitive administrative areas remain strictly enforced.
