He gave up a police job to enter politics
Ram Vilas Paswan's political journey saw many ups and downs. According to reports, he left a DSP job on a friend's advice, going against his father's wishes, and dedicated himself fully to politics. He went on to become a Member of Parliament multiple times and rose to hold ministerial positions at the centre. At one point, he came very close to becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar but narrowly missed the chance.
A tussle over legacy between Chirag and Pashupati Paras
Following Ram Vilas Paswan's death, differences emerged within the family over his political legacy. Reports suggest both Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras have laid claim to being his true political heir, with separate strategies being worked out on this front. Separately, at a Lok Janshakti Party foundation day event in Ranchi, party workers took a pledge to fulfil Ram Vilas Paswan's dreams.
PM Modi's emotional letter and the unveiling of a statue
On Ram Vilas Paswan's first death anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote an emotional letter, to which his son Chirag Paswan responded by saying he hoped Paswan's blessings would always remain with them. Separately, a life-size statue of Ram Vilas Paswan was unveiled at an event, where Chirag Paswan said his father worked for the poor even in his final days.
