A chaotic gathering organized by a prominent social media figure in the Sialkot district of Pakistan turned tragic on Saturday night when an uncontrollable rush of people led to a deadly crush at the entrance. Thousands had gathered to take part in the festivities, but the moment access was granted to the venue, people pushed forward indiscriminately, causing multiple individuals to lose balance and fall. Thirty-year-old Muhammad Aqeel died from severe injuries on the way to the hospital, while more than thirteen others suffered injuries of varying severity.
Mass Gathering at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road
The event was hosted by TikTok creator Muhammad Ansar Jatt, widely recognized across digital platforms by the name Mr Patlo. Staged at Faraz Cricket Ground located along Daska Road, the evening featured a combined mehndi ceremony and a prize distribution session. Because of the influencer's widespread reach among internet audiences, admirers and followers started arriving hours early, assembling outside the perimeter in anticipation of entering the arena.
Surge at the Entrance Turns Catastrophic
The critical failure occurred when venue coordinators swung open the gates to allow attendees into the grounds. The crowd waiting on the street pressed forward simultaneously into the entrance passage. With tremendous forward pressure, several people at the front lost their footing and collapsed onto the ground. The crowd behind continued pushing onward, resulting in trampling injuries. Muhammad Aqeel sustained critical harm during this rapid compression and succumbed to his injuries while being transported by emergency services.
Emergency Responders Mobilize and Hospitalize Victims
Emergency response crews from Rescue 1122 alongside local police personnel intervened to clear the bottlenecks and extract those who were trapped or injured. Casualties were transported directly to Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Medical staff discharged a majority of the victims after bandaging and initial aid, while those requiring ongoing observation remained hospitalized. Those injured in the chaos were aged between 22 and 51 years old.
Cross-District Draw for the Influencer Gathering
The attendees who suffered injuries had travelled from multiple districts across Punjab province to take part in the festivities. Documented cases confirmed that individuals had journeyed from Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, Okara, Sialkot, Gujrat, and Bahawalpur. This heavy inter-district influx had created substantial logistical strain on the venue's exterior access ways well before entry commenced.
Local Eyewitness Accounts of Higher Casualty Numbers
While formal records from emergency services listed fourteen total casualties including the deceased, local residents Muhammad Asif and Aamir Ali maintained that the true number of injured surpassed forty people. They explained that before formal emergency services could position their vehicles, local residents and bystanders transported numerous injured visitors directly to surrounding private clinics and local dispensaries for urgent care, which left those cases out of the preliminary institutional count.
