Indian parliamentarian Raghav Chadha is set to represent the nation at the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, scheduled to take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The high-profile international event will run from September 4 to September 6. His nomination for this prestigious global forum was put forward by President Droupadi Murmu, prompting him to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the President. Through this conference, the democratic values and perspectives of the Indian parliamentary system will be presented on a prominent international platform.
Announcing his upcoming diplomatic journey, he shared a post on X featuring a photograph of himself at the airport alongside his travel bag, passport, and other official documents. He noted that India has substantial insights and contributions to offer at this global gathering. Notably, this is not his first engagement on an international academic or leadership stage; he previously participated in the global leadership program at Harvard University last year. Furthermore, the World Economic Forum had earlier selected him as a Young Global Leader, reflecting his expanding footprint in international diplomatic discourse.

Sharing his enthusiasm about joining the conference, he stated on his social media handle that he feels deeply honored to be selected to represent the Indian Parliament at the 12th Inter-Parliamentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians. He also extended his sincere thanks to the Vice President of India for nominating him to be a part of this delegation. Established in 1889 and headquartered in Geneva, the IPU stands as the oldest and largest network of national parliaments globally, uniting 180 member parliaments and 15 associate members.

Shedding light on the core agenda of the summit, he pointed out that the central theme for this year focuses on restoring human rights, justice, and dignity for all individuals during challenging times. He explained that this three-day event will witness elected young representatives from around the globe engaging in comprehensive deliberations. Key topics on the agenda include youth rights, digital freedoms, online safety, climate resilience, and economic opportunities tailored for the younger generation. Emphasizing India's standing, he noted that as the world's largest democracy housing one of the youngest populations, the Indian Parliament possesses a wealth of valuable perspectives to share and learn from on these pressing matters.

This parliamentary delegation's visit arrives shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a successful official visit to Uzbekistan. During that diplomatic engagement, several key agreements were finalized between the two nations to deepen bilateral ties.
