West Bengal politics has plunged into yet another fierce controversy following an agitated protest against former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. The incident occurred in Halishahar, located in the North 24 Parganas district, where her convoy was intercepted and targeted by an angry crowd. The altercation has triggered a massive war of words between the ruling party and the opposition, intensifying the political heat across the state. Sudipta Das Fires Back at Barrackpore
Addressing media representatives in the Barrackpore region, BJP legislator Sudipta Das strongly dismissed TMC allegations that the attack on the convoy was a pre-planned assassination attempt. Defending the actions of the crowd, Das remarked that Mamata Banerjee had visited the area solely to engage in opportunistic politics. He questioned the narrative of a murder attempt, asking whether someone throwing mud could ever be construed as an effort to take a life. To substantiate his argument, he pointed to past incidents, recalling the actual violent attacks on JP Nadda and Khagen Murmu. Das asserted that genuine attempts on life occur when opposition cadres attack political rivals, and noted that if anyone truly intended to kill, they would not have restricted themselves to throwing mud.
Targeting Political Conduct
Continuing his sharp attack, Sudipta Das blamed Mamata Banerjee for single-handedly polluting the political atmosphere of West Bengal. He claimed that the specific brand of politics practiced by her over the years has degraded the overall standard of public life. In a controversial remark, he stated that because of this legacy, she would receive mud instead of flowers from the public. Mamata Banerjee was en route to Halishahar in North 24 Parganas to meet the bereaved family of the deceased worker when the incident unfolded. A large and hostile crowd surrounded her vehicle, venting their fury by hurling mud, shoes, slippers, and water bottles at the car. Protesters also raised loud anti-government slogans against the local police administration and the TMC leadership, reflecting deep-seated local resentment.

In the immediate aftermath of the event, TMC leaders denounced the incident as a sponsored conspiracy orchestrated by the BJP and other opposition entities. They alleged that opposition activists deliberately staged the provocative actions to destabilize peace and endanger the security of the former chief minister.
