A formal criminal case has been registered in the Banswara district of Rajasthan following serious allegations of coercion, monetary inducements, and physical assault linked to an attempted religious conversion. Authorities at the Sallopat police station have named 16 individuals in a First Information Report filed on the basis of a written complaint submitted by a resident of Makdichor village, located under the Kalinjra police station jurisdiction. The complainant has alleged that sustained attempts were made to pressure him into adopting Christianity through promises of financial security and other material benefits. When he refused to comply with the demands, he was subjected to violent retribution. Police authorities have initiated an investigation to verify the claims and determine the precise facts.
Allegations of Monthly Cash Stipends and Administrative Job Guarantees
According to the official report lodged with the police, the complainant was offered substantial material incentives to renounce his faith and accept Christianity. The accused allegedly promised him an immediate lump-sum payment of 1 lakh rupees, supplemented by a recurring monthly allowance of 25 thousand rupees. The promises went beyond direct cash, as the complainant stated that the group assured him guaranteed selection in the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) exam conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, known as RPSC. Furthermore, the accused allegedly offered to provide a personal vehicle and additional material conveniences. The complainant asserted that the suspects attempted to perform a baptism ceremony on him, but he firmly resisted the pressure to undergo the religious initiation.
Physical Assault With Sticks and Derogatory Remarks
The situation escalated into violence once the complainant refused to proceed with the conversion. According to the complaint, the refusal provoked the accused into launching a physical attack involving kicks, punches, and wooden sticks. The victim sustained injuries during the altercation. In addition to physical battery, the complainant stated that the assailants directed caste-based slurs at him with the deliberate intention of causing humiliation. The police report also highlights accusations that the group made disparaging and disrespectful remarks regarding Hindu deities during the encounter. Law enforcement authorities took cognizance of the entire narrative, registering cases covering physical assault, intimidation, caste-based insult, and actions intended to outrage religious sentiments.
Gathering on September 22 and Network Claims Under Scrutiny
The First Information Report makes specific reference to an assembly organized on September 22 in Shivpura. The complainant reported that between 100 and 150 people attended this gathering. The report claims that religious activities and church operations were being conducted within the residential compound of an individual named Balwant. A broader claim surfaced within the complaint alleging that an organized syndicate has been operating across the region, boasting of having converted approximately 10 thousand people. Police officials have emphasized that these assertions currently remain unverified claims made within the complainant's petition, and their veracity will be confirmed only after field inquiries and forensic verification.
