A severe case of child abuse has come to light in the Sadar police station area of Barmer district in Rajasthan, where a vegetable vendor has been accused of continuously exploiting a 14-year-old minor employed at his shop. The victim endured the trauma in silence for nearly seven months before finally confiding in his family after suffering severe physical and mental distress. Upon learning about the ordeal, the minor's family approached the authorities and lodged a formal complaint at the local police station on August 7.
Months of Continuous Exploitation at Worksite
According to Barmer Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Arya, the victim worked as a daily helper at the accused vendor's vegetable shop. Taking advantage of the situation, the shopkeeper allegedly subjected the young boy to relentless harassment over a period of 6 to 7 months. As the ongoing physical and psychological toll became unbearable, the adolescent gathered courage to disclose the systemic abuse to his family. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the family promptly sought police intervention to ensure legal action against the perpetrator.
Investigation Handed Over to Women Crime Cell
Following the complaint on August 7, Sadar police immediately registered a criminal case and launched a formal probe. Considering the sensitivity and nature of the offence, higher officials transferred the investigation to the ASP of the Women Crime Investigation Cell. As part of standard procedural protocol, authorities have conducted a comprehensive medical examination of the minor victim. Additionally, investigating officers have inspected the crime scene to collect physical evidence and verify details related to the incident.
Police Launch Search to Arrest Fleeing Suspect
Law enforcement authorities are actively gathering evidence and examining technical as well as circumstantial facts linked to the case. Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Arya emphasized that capturing the absconding shopkeeper remains top priority for the department, with police teams conducting raids at potential hideouts. Officials confirmed that further statutory legal measures will be initiated based on the minor's recorded statement and medical evaluation results.
