Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur touched down in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, on Saturday evening, where he is set to be the chief guest at a prominent jewellery industry awards function. Though the visit spans only a few hours, it is being watched closely in both business and political circles.
IndiGo flight from Delhi lands at Sanganer
Thakur boarded IndiGo's scheduled flight number 6E-5033 from Delhi on Saturday evening to travel to Jaipur. As per the pre-planned schedule, his flight touched down at Jaipur's Sanganer International Airport at around 5:00 pm.
BJP workers give him a rousing welcome
BJP office-bearers, local leaders and a large number of party workers who had already gathered at the airport gave the former Union minister a warm welcome. Workers greeted him with bouquets of flowers and slogans as they received him. Speaking briefly to media present at the airport, Thakur expressed happiness at arriving in Jaipur.
Chief guest at the Jewellery Eminence Awards
As part of his packed schedule, Thakur will arrive at the Novotel JECC convention centre in the Sitapura industrial area at 7:30 pm. There, he will attend the Jewellery Eminence Awards, a function that carries recognition both in the country and abroad, as chief guest. The grand event will honour talents who have done outstanding work in jewellery craftsmanship and the industry.
Direct talks planned with industry leaders
Beyond the awards ceremony itself, another key purpose of this visit is direct engagement with industrialists. Outside the formal programme, Thakur is expected to meet prominent figures, leading businessmen and industry representatives connected to the jewellery trade in Rajasthan and across the country. Discussions are expected to cover business prospects, the growth of the gems and jewellery industry, and ways to promote local artisans.
Visit being watched closely in political and business circles
The Jaipur visit by Thakur, a heavyweight BJP leader and former Union minister, is significant from both a business and social standpoint, and is also being taken seriously in political circles. He is scheduled to return to Delhi once the programme concludes.
