The final Monday of the holy Sawan month brought an overwhelming wave of devotion across Rajasthan, with temples dedicated to Lord Shiva witnessing massive gatherings since early morning. In Jaipur, popularly known as Choti Kashi, long queues of worshippers formed at prominent shrines like the Tarkeshwar Mahadev and Jharkhand Mahadev temples, where devotees performed ritualistic jalabhishek and dughdabhishek. The temple premises echoed continuously with chants of Har Har Mahadev and Bam Bam Bhole. Kanwar yatras made their way through the walled city and outer residential colonies, with groups carrying holy Ganges water from the Galta pilgrimage site toward various local shrines.
Devotion at Hilltop Shrines and Weather Updates
The religious fervor extended far beyond the capital. In Dausa, devotees began lining up as early as 3:00 AM at the Nilkanth Mahadev temple located atop the Devgiri hills. Worshippers climbed 365 stairs to catch a glimpse of the deity, while several dedicated followers made their way to the shrine performing kanak dandvat prostrations. Alwar witnessed similar scenes at the Tripolia Mahadev temple and other local places of worship. Meanwhile, the weather in Karauli turned pleasant as light intermittent rainfall blessed the region on the concluding Monday of the sacred month.
Highway Traffic Disruption and Accidental Injury
Amidst the widespread festive celebrations, authorities also dealt with notable incidents on the ground. A collision between two heavy trucks near the Kamla Nehru Nagar flyover along the Jaipur-Ajmer highway triggered a massive traffic jam, causing considerable delays for commuters. In a separate incident within Deeg district's Sikri area, a 22-year-old electrician named Sempi Saini suffered severe burn injuries after coming into direct contact with an 11,000-volt high-tension power line. The injured youth was promptly referred to Alwar for advanced medical treatment.
