Political friction in Rajasthan's Hadoti region intensified sharply as youth leader Naresh Meena opened an aggressive agitation against the state government over severe fertilizer shortages and pressing farmer grievances. Arriving outside the Baran district collectorate following a massive vehicular rally from Kamkheda Balaji in Jhalawar, Meena initiated an indefinite hunger strike. He declared that his satyagraha will persist until farmers across the state receive adequate supplies of DAP fertilizer at the stipulated price of 1350 rupees and every administrative hurdle in fertilizer distribution is permanently addressed.
Farmer Rally on Gandhi Jayanti and Rejection of Local Administrative Talks
The protest march was launched on Gandhi Jayanti from the religious site of Kamkheda Balaji, with hundreds of supporters and cultivators driving tractors and other vehicles toward Baran. Upon arriving at the Baran collectorate, Naresh Meena paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi before sitting on a continuous dharna right outside the district headquarters. When a delegation of local administrative officials approached the site with an offer for dialogue, Meena firmly declined the negotiation attempt. He emphasized that the fertilizer crunch is not an isolated concern restricted to Baran district, but rather an acute crisis confronting farmers throughout Rajasthan. Consequently, he stated that negotiations would only occur if conducted directly at the level of the Chief Secretary.
Direct Political Challenge to Pramod Jain Bhaya and Congress Leadership
Speaking to the gathered assembly from the protest site, Naresh Meena directed sharp verbal volleys against established political figures in Hadoti. Throwing down an open challenge to former Congress minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, Meena stated that even if Bhaya arranged feasts with five delicacies to draw attendees or shared a stage in Baran with Rahul Gandhi and PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra, the core backing of local youth and farming communities remains with his movement. He asserted that his public gatherings would draw significantly larger crowds than any rally headlined by Rahul Gandhi and Dotasra. Meena went on to challenge Bhaya to organize comparative public rallies at intervals of 5, 10, or 15 days so that the genuine public pulse could be openly evaluated, turning an agricultural protest into a fiery regional political confrontation.
Rajendra Gudha Extends Support with Severe Warnings to the State
Former minister Rajendra Gudha arrived at the Baran protest venue to express complete solidarity with the demonstration, launching harsh criticisms at the ruling administration. Gudha remarked that Naresh Meena's ongoing fight is growing increasingly youthful and vibrant, while the current state government appears progressively aged and sluggish by the day. He issued a stern warning that any attempt by authorities to arrest Meena or place him in jail would ignite widespread public fury across Rajasthan, causing massive crowds to descend upon Jaipur in protest. Several regional representatives and prominent figures were present at the dharna, including former Municipal Council chairman Kamal Rathore and former Pradhan Ramhet Meena, alongside a large contingent of supporters.
Panchayat Election Strategy and Candidate Nominations Announced
Using the dharna platform for broader political maneuvering, Naresh Meena also revealed his electoral roadmap for upcoming local body polls. Signalling the formation of a viable third front, he announced specific names for key rural leadership positions. Meena declared Sandeep Sharma as his candidate for the Baran Zila Pramukh post, Mamta Nagar for Baran Pradhan, Vandana Nagar for Atru Pradhan, and Brijbhushan Sharma for Chhabra Pradhan. He had previously articulated intentions to field independent slates across Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti constituencies in Baran and Bundi districts, positioning his group as an independent political alternative to both mainstream parties.
October 4 Deadline for March to Jaipur and Chief Minister Residence Gherao
Issuing an escalating ultimatum to the state administration, Naresh Meena warned that if a decisive resolution to the agricultural crisis is not delivered immediately, thousands of farmers will assemble on October 4 to begin a march from Baran to Jaipur. He outlined plans to surround the Chief Minister's official residence during the capital protest. Having recently stepped out of jail on bail, Meena's mobilization around fertilizer shortages has transformed into a major political and rural movement within Hadoti. At its core, the agitation demands an uninterrupted supply of DAP and allied fertilizers at proper prices, insisting on permanent structural solutions for agrarian challenges.
