A minor dispute over children playing cricket in a Rajasthan village spiralled into a bloody clash within hours, leaving one young man dead and six people seriously injured. The incident unfolded in Viparpur village under the Maniyan police station area of Dholpur district, where members of both sides openly attacked each other with sticks, iron rods, stones and bricks. Tension and fear have gripped the entire village since the clash, and police have camped at the spot.
A children's cricket squabble in the lane spirals into a full-blown feud
According to information received, some children from the same family were playing cricket in the lane outside their house in Viparpur village. During the game, an argument broke out among the children over something. It is alleged that instead of stepping in to resolve the minor dispute, a woman from one side beat up an innocent child from the other side. As soon as word of the assault on the child reached his family, the matter escalated straight to the adults. Within moments, adults from both sides confronted each other armed with sticks and sharp weapons, and the atmosphere turned completely violent.
Family heads to the police station, young man attacked with iron rods from behind
As the dispute escalated, some people from one side set off for the Maniyan police station to file a written complaint. During this very window, people from the other side found young man Gulfan alone outside his house in the village and launched a sudden, ferocious attack on him with heavy iron rods and sticks. The accused repeatedly struck Gulfan on the head with the rods, causing severe head injuries that left him bleeding and collapsed on the ground. When Gulfan's other family members rushed to save him after hearing his cries, the attackers beat them mercilessly as well. Around six people from both sides were injured in the entire clash.
Doctors declare him dead at the hospital, two young children lose their father
Family members rushed the bleeding, unconscious Gulfan straight to the district hospital, where doctors on duty examined him and declared him dead. News of his death sent his family into mourning. Gulfan originally hailed from Agra in Uttar Pradesh and had been living with his family in his in-laws' village of Viparpur for the past three years. His death has left his two young children without their father forever, casting a pall of grief over the entire area.
Accused flee the village, police launch a manhunt
As soon as news of the clash and the killing reached them, Maniyan police station personnel rushed to Viparpur village with a heavy contingent and closely examined the crime scene. The moment the accused side got wind of the police arriving, they locked up their houses and fled the village. Police got a post mortem conducted at the district hospital mortuary and handed the body over to the family. Sub-inspector Hari Singh Chauhan of Maniyan police station said that based on the complaint filed by the victim's side, a case has been registered against the named accused under various serious sections related to murder and attempt to murder. Separate police teams have been formed and are actively searching for the absconding accused.
