A massive administrative push is underway to transform the educational infrastructure across Rajasthan as the state government has finalized a comprehensive financial roadmap worth 1200 crore rupees. Spearheaded by the administration under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, this ambitious initiative aims to breathe new life into dilapidated school buildings and provide students with a secure, modern learning environment. With administrative clearances and fund allocations now underway, the physical landscape of public education in the state is poised for a major transformation in the coming times.
Building New Facilities and Addressing Unsafe Structures
To strengthen the foundational educational framework, blueprints have been drawn up for the construction of 1293 new school buildings across the state. To facilitate this massive undertaking, the government has sanctioned an amount of 1096.55 crore rupees. Official records currently classify 3768 school buildings across Rajasthan as dilapidated and unsafe for occupancy. Replacing these hazardous structures with sturdy, modern buildings has been designated as an absolute priority to ensure that the safety of young students is never compromised under any circumstances.
Tier-Based Budget Allocation Under Samagra Shiksha
The distribution of funds has been meticulously structured according to the educational level of the institutions under the Samagra Shiksha framework. For the construction of new primary school buildings, an allocation of 73 lakh rupees has been fixed per school. Meanwhile, to upgrade the infrastructure of middle schools, a provision of 100.96 lakh rupees has been designated for each institution. Senior secondary schools, which require extensive campus development and advanced facilities, have received a massive allocation of 449 lakh rupees per school.
Major Funding Boost for Jaipur and Udaipur Districts
A significant portion of this financial package has been directed toward key districts in the state to maximize regional impact. In Jaipur district, an amount of 19340.14 lakh rupees has been sanctioned for the overhaul and new construction of 143 schools. On the other hand, Udaipur district has received a substantial sum of 24733.06 lakh rupees to improve conditions and build new facilities across 393 schools. This heavy financial investment is expected to directly benefit thousands of students in these regions by elevating the standard of their study environments.
Two-Month Delay Expected Due to Upcoming Code of Conduct
Although financial approvals have been officially issued by the state administration, the physical commencement of construction work will experience a slight delay. With upcoming local body elections expected in Rajasthan, the implementation of the model code of conduct is imminent. This regulatory pause means that the tender processes and ground-level execution will likely take around two months to kick off. Once the code of conduct is lifted, construction activities across all 1293 targeted schools are slated to begin on a war footing.
