A 24-year-old man died after being hit by a train in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, and a series of emotional posts he had shared on social media just before the incident has left the entire area shaken. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Jat, a resident of Mahpalwas village under the Surajgarh police station area. His family has filed a police complaint accusing the relatives of a young woman of repeatedly threatening and mentally harassing him, and police have opened an investigation.
Sandeep worked at a finance company
Sandeep Jat was employed at a finance company. On Monday evening, he left home telling his family he was headed to Surajgarh. After that, there was no word from him. On Tuesday morning, his family received information that he had died after being hit by the Sainik Express, which was travelling from Delhi Cantt to Jaipur. The news brought grief to the household almost instantly.
Police and station master respond at the scene
As soon as word of the incident spread, Surajgarh police and a GRP team reached the spot. The local station master also informed police that the young man had come in front of the train himself. Police took the body into custody, got a postmortem conducted and handed the body over to the family. Given the sensitivity of the case, officers immediately began collecting the evidence needed for the investigation.
11 emotional posts shared on Facebook before his death
Before the incident, Sandeep had shared 11 stories one after another on Facebook. These included photographs of him with a young woman along with heartfelt messages. In some posts, he apologised for a mistake he said he had made, while others carried farewell-like words. In one post, translating his message, he wrote that he had lived a good life, that he was going away happily, and asked to be forgiven if he had made any mistake. In his final post, shared on Instagram, he accused the family of a young woman of directly threatening to kill him. Once news of his death emerged following these posts, the matter became the talk of the entire region.
A relationship reportedly a year old, threats for two months
In the report filed by Sandeep's brother at Surajgarh police station, it is alleged that Sandeep was in a relationship with a young woman. Her family had learned about the relationship roughly a year earlier. A dispute over the relationship followed, and for the past two months Sandeep had reportedly been receiving continuous threats. The report also alleges that he was threatened with assault and dire consequences. His family says these threats and the mounting pressure had left Sandeep under mental stress in the period leading up to his death.
Allegation of deleted posts and a shut Instagram account
The family has raised another serious allegation in its complaint. They say that after the incident, an unidentified person accessed Sandeep's Instagram account, deleted the information and posts he had shared, and later had the account permanently shut down. The family has asked police to separately investigate this aspect as well, to establish who tampered with the account and why.
Police say every angle is being examined
Surajgarh police have registered a case based on the family's complaint and begun their investigation. Officers say they are closely examining the social media posts, the allegations made by the family, and all other facts connected to the case. According to police, the allegations can only be confirmed once the investigation is complete.
