A wave of shock gripped Hindaun City in Rajasthan's Karauli district on Monday after the body of a well-known local textile businessman was discovered floating in a pond. As word of the recovery spread across the neighborhood, a large crowd of local residents gathered near the water body. Personnel from the Kotwali police station rushed to the spot after being alerted and initiated an inspection of the scene.
Body Retrieved Near Idgah Ghat on Karauli Road
The incident came to light at the pond situated near the ghat directly opposite the Idgah on Karauli Road in Hindaun City. On Monday, passersby and local residents noticed a body floating in the water and immediately notified local law enforcement authorities. Kotwali Police Station In-charge Inspector Mahendra Singh Choudhary arrived at the location along with his team to assess the site. Officers carried out the necessary legal formalities and pulled the body out of the water. The deceased was identified as Chandu Patwari, a reputed textile trader of the city. Police then shifted the body to the mortuary at Hindaun District Hospital for further procedures.
Prominent Figure in Business and Political Circles
News of the merchant's death triggered widespread grief among his acquaintances, relatives, and fellow shopkeepers. Chandu Patwari had been running an established, decades-old cloth shop in the Sarafa Bazar area of Hindaun City. Beyond his commercial presence, he was also an active figure in local politics and had previously served as the city mandal president for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Consequently, his unexpected demise has led to intense speculation and discussions across both trade associations and political circles in the town.
Merchant Lived Separately in Rented Accommodation
During preliminary enquiries into his background, it emerged that Chandu Patwari had been residing separately from his family in rented premises.
