A major road accident occurred on Saturday within the jurisdiction of Mania police station in Dhaulpur district, resulting in four fatalities. An Eco van packed with passengers lost control and plunged into a large water-filled pit near Phoolpur village. The severe crash claimed the lives of three young children and a woman, while seven to eight other individuals sustained injuries. At the time of the mishap, the occupants of the vehicle were heading toward a local temple for worship.
Passengers Were Traveling for Temple Darshan
According to available details, the passengers inside the Eco van belonged to the Sapotra sub-division area and were traveling to visit a temple in Phoolpur village. Water had accumulated on the road along the route. As the vehicle attempted to pass through this waterlogged stretch, the driver lost control. The imbalance caused the van to veer off the road and overturn straight into a pond-like deep pit situated on the roadside. The moment the vehicle crashed into the water, cries for help echoed and panic erupted among the travelers.
Villagers Led the Immediate Rescue Operation
As soon as the accident took place, nearby villagers rushed to the spot to assist. Pulling out children and women trapped inside the van submerged in water was an arduous task, but the residents took matters into their own hands and worked relentlessly to extract the victims. With the help of locals, all the injured individuals were promptly rushed to the Community Health Center in Mania, where they were admitted for medical treatment. Upon receiving news of the tragedy, the police arrived at the scene to gather facts and investigate the circumstances.
Questions Raised Over Road Conditions and Waterlogging
This devastating incident has brought serious road safety concerns regarding waterlogging and unattended roadside pits to the forefront. Although the exact cause of the accident will only be confirmed following a thorough investigation, preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle lost its balance while navigating through the road's accumulated water. The sudden tragedy has plunged the surrounding area and the affected families into profound grief.
