The relief was short-lived: soon after delivery she developed sudden, severe chest pain and her condition deteriorated rapidly. Doctors gave her first aid and referred her to a higher-level hospital, but she died on the way there.

As the commotion and sloganeering outside the collectorate intensified, police reached the spot quickly. Officers spoke with the family to calm the situation and took custody of the body, sending it back to the mortuary at the district hospital for a fresh post-mortem.
