To protect the cosmos, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to divide the body into multiple parts, which fell across various locations that subsequently became known as Shaktipithas. Tradition holds that the Brahmrandhra, or the upper part of the head of Mata Sati, fell at Hinglaj, earning its esteemed place among the 51 primary Shaktipithas. At this sacred shrine, the Goddess is worshipped as Kottari or Kottavi, and Bhairav is revered as Bhimlochan.
