The month of Sawan holds immense significance in Hindu tradition, as it is widely believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati reside on Earth during this period. This makes the entire sacred month the most favorable time to appease Mahadev. Devotees perform elaborate rituals every Monday, while many simply offer a pot of Gangajal to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, who willingly fulfills the sincere wishes of his followers. The second Monday of Sawan falls on July 21, carrying profound spiritual weight.
Rare Alignments and Auspicious Combinations
Out of the four Mondays occurring in Sawan this year, the second Monday stands out due to extraordinary planetary combinations. Pramod Shringari, a prominent pilgrimage priest at Baidyanathdham, explained that after several years, a truly unique and auspicious conjunction is taking place on this day. Performing Jalabhishek and offering Belpatra to Lord Shiva during these propitious hours pleases the deity deeply and grants desired boons to the worshipers.
The Conjunction of Ekadashi and Rohini Nakshatra
According to the Baidyanath Panchang, the date of Ekadashi coincides with July 21, ensuring that devotees receive the combined blessings of both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Furthermore, the day features the Rohini Nakshatra, which is traditionally regarded as highly auspicious. Alongside these, the Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is also active on this day. Ancient scriptures state that performing prayers under the combined influence of Rohini Nakshatra, Ekadashi, and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga ensures that all sincere wishes are fulfilled.
Proper Rituals for Worship on Sawan Somwar
Observing a fast on the second Monday of Sawan is considered highly meritorious. Begin the worship by performing Jalabhishek on the Shivling, making sure to offer a Belpatra inscribed with the name of Lord Rama. The rituals should follow the Panchopachar method, utilizing water, milk, curd, ghee, and honey, followed by lighting a pure ghee lamp. Since the day also marks Kamana Ekadashi, worshipers must pay homage to Lord Vishnu as well, ensuring that the combined blessings of Hari and Har bring total fulfillment to their lives.
