Medical Education in Ukraine and Navigating Crises
Nilabh completed his primary schooling at the prestigious Loyola School in Jamshedpur. Following his 12th-grade examinations, he took the NEET exam and moved to Ukraine to pursue his medical degree. While his academic journey began smoothly, the world soon faced a major crisis that impacted millions. The COVID-19 pandemic, followed by the breakout of war, created severe challenges for students studying abroad. While many Indian students chose to abandon their education and return home, Nilabh refused to give up.
Transfer to Georgia and Clearing the FMGE
Determined to continue his path, Nilabh managed to transfer to Georgia and persisted with his medical education. Through sheer perseverance and unwavering resolve, he successfully completed his degree. Upon returning to Jamshedpur in March 2026, he appeared for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which is widely considered one of the toughest examinations in the country for foreign-trained medical graduates. Out of approximately 36,000 candidates who appeared for the test, only 12 percent passed. Amidst this fierce competition, Nilabh achieved success with a score of 168.
Future Ambitions and Social Commitment
Nilabh’s dream does not end here. He intends to pursue post-graduation in Orthopedics and aspires to serve people as a bone specialist. During his medical training, he participated in various health camps across remote and rural regions. There, he worked toward educating the public about health, medication, and common illnesses. He firmly believes that several misconceptions regarding medical treatments still exist in society, and it is crucial to address and dispel them.
A Man of Versatile Talent
Beyond his academic achievements, Nilabh possesses a wide range of interests. He is a talented musician and a former National Scholar in tabla performance. Furthermore, he is an accomplished swimmer who has secured a gold medal at the state level in Jharkhand. Photography is another one of his keen interests. Nilabh Sengupta stands as a shining example of how struggle, hard work, and versatile talent can overcome any obstacle, sending a powerful message to today's youth: if the goal is clear and the effort is honest, no difficulty can obstruct the path to success.
